Howdy,
Hope the school year ended well for all our student readers, and congratulations to everyone graduating this year. Good luck in the real world, if that is indeed where you're headed.
This issue, we decided to focus on someone very near and dear to our hearts: the college student. Still, being NUComment and all, we couldn't just snag your average Joe Schmoe off Sheridan road and ask him what he thinks about Paris Hilton. We sought out not just people, but lifestyles - the unique, eccentric, and alternative types that roam our fair campus. Maybe you know people like this. Maybe you are people like this. As this spring quarter ends and summer begins, we're celebrating the alternative lifestyle in everyone.
Nina Kim tells the tale of a campus hip-hop artist climbing toward fame. Devonie McCamey sorts out the alt crowd - from the hipster kids to the emo posse - and Tom Cohlmia tells us why it's not easy living green. Nathan Edwards…well, I guess you'll just have to read his. Too hard to explain. We've also got Robbie Brenner, guiding you to cheap eats around Evanston. To top it off, Lindsey Slater checks out the S&M culture on campus (seriously), and Dan Marlin gets back to sports with a piece on what it means to be a Cubs fan. Really some fun pieces this time around.
For the next few months, I'll be traveling around Europe with inconsistent e-mail access, but fear not sports fans, NUComment will persevere. Until I get back to civilization, I'm handing the reigns over to the beautiful and talented Malorie Medellin, who is probably more capable than I am of running this thing. You'll definitely be able to get your summer fix.
Until next time,
Matt
